Cute Girl Hairstyles From Ordinary to Awesome

Pull-Thru Ponytail

Pull-Thru Braids are very popular right now, and we have several pull-thru tutorials. This style, was inspired by my good friend Jill Ehat

We really love how this pull-thru looks. It can be dressed up or down. Brooklyn has worn this several times and has received lots of lovely comments while wearing it.

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 1 ponytail holder, 1 small hair elastic, dry wax and hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 3-5 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Step-By-Step Instructions

  1. Pick up a small section of hair in the front and top of the head.  Secure with a small elastic.
  2. Give the front a little tug to puff the hair a bit.
  3. Pull up sections from both sides, just under your first section, and secure with an elastic.
  4. Take the ponytail #1 & divide in two sections.  Pick up ponytail #2 and hold it up and out of the work area.  (Brooklyn held it for me)
  5. #1 should be in half and on either side of #2.  Pick up two new sections of hair on both sides, combine with sections from #1 and secure with an elastic.  (see video for more details)
  6. Split the hair from ponytail #2 and repeat the process.  Pick up #3, hold out of the way.  Pick up two new sections, add to hair from #2 and secure with an elastic.
  7. Hold #4 out of the way.  Scoop up remaining hair into ponytail & secure with heavy elastic.  (bigger section of hair needs sturdy elastic)
  8. Pull large (final ponytail) up and out of the way.  Pull the two sections from #4 down & under the big ponytail and secure with small elastic.
  9. Now you go back and really pull, puff and fluff your pull out sections.
  10. I added a little teasing to my final ponytail as well to get a nice full look.  Add hairspray if desired

Half-up Bow Combo

Half-up hairstyles like this one are very popular right now. This one happens to use a regular 3-strand braid, a fishtail braid, and a hair bow. Inspiration for this braid came from my friend @n.stark on Instagram. I actually saw her style photo in a magazine and fell in love with it!

This hairstyle can be dressed up or down, depending on the event you are attending, and it does hold up fairly well if you are planning to be active.

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 1 ponytail holder, 2 small hair elastics, 4-6 small bobby pins, spray wax and/or hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 8-10 minutes

Skill Level: Hard

  1. Take a rectangular section of hair at the top of the head.  Scoop it back to the crown.
  2. Divide your section into three pieces and begin a three strand braid.
  3. Braid down about 5-6 stitches.
  4. Re-divide the hair into two pieces as you will fishtail the remaining hair.
  5. BEFORE you begin your fishtail, tug on your three strand braid and pancake a little.
  6. Now begin the fishtail.  Stop along the way to pancake your braid.
  7. Finish your fishtail, pancake and fluff, and secure with an elastic.
  8. From the front, pick up the side pieces  that we left down. (See video tutorial for more details)
  9. Pull the two new side pieces back and secure with an elastic.
  10. This is where you will create a bow with the hair.  (See video tutorial)
  11. Secure your bow loops with bobby pins, and then secure your bow center with bobby pins.

Mermaid Heart Braid | Cute Valentine’s Day Hairstyles

I can’t believe another Valentine’s Day is here! With only a few weeks to go, it is now time for another heart hairstyle! Valentine’s Day hairstyles have become some of our most popular tutorial, and this one will be not different.

This style combines three little elastic heartlets with a Mermaid Braid technique and curls. We’ve worn it several times, letting the hair fall straight, combining it all into a simple braid, and here with curls. We love how it turns out every time! Even as we were taking photos, moms were stopping us to either comment on the hearts, or ask me how we created them.

Now, you can complete this hairstyle with either wet or dry hair, it really depends on the look you are going for. We’ve done both and they are equally as beautiful in their own way. Today, we are teaching you on wet hair, which we know keeps the hair tighter and the hearts more uniform {adding a little pomade helps, too}.

This style was inspired from a combination of my hairblogging friends, Лена Роговая, Princess Hairstyles and Mimiamassari.

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 6 small hair elastics, pomade, accessory {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 5-8 minutes

Skill Level: Medium

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Begin with wet or dry hair {I find that for the first try, the hair lays better if done wet}…
  2. Then pick up a section of hair right behind each temple.  Pull them to the back center of the head, apply a little bit of pomade, and then secure with an elastic…
  3. Pick up another small section of hair directly underneath the first ones, pulling them to the back of the head, and applying pomade, just as you did before…
  4. On your first side, place your pointer and middle fingers onto of the section you just pulled back…
  5. Then tuck your fingers underneath the first section you pulled back….
  6. Now, place the second strand between those fingers and gently pull the strand downward {this should create a looping effect around the first strand of hair}…
  7. Repeat Steps #4-6 on the other side…
  8. Next, grab the ends of the two second strand and secure them together to form the heart shape {make sure you like the shape of the heart before you move on}…
  9. Continue with Steps #4-8 for both sides until you have three total hearts…
  10. Optional: I ended the style with three hearts and curled the rest with my wand, you could also add a simple braid, a fishtail, or continue the hearts down the remaining hair into a full Mermaid Braid.

Please leave a comment below letting us know what you think about this Mermaid Heart Braid! In what combinations would you wear it?
